She has been a guest lecturer at Eastern Institute of Technology, Unitec School of Performing and Screen Arts, The University of Otago, and the Otago Polytechnic School of Art.

Te Ahukaramū Charles Royal is a musician and researcher who belongs to Ngāti Raukawa, Marutūahu, and Ngā Puhi. He is a graduate of the Victoria University School of Music, where he completed a Bachelor of Music with a composition major. His masters thesis was on traditional Māori song poetry, and his doctoral dissertation, completed in 1998, was on whare tapere – traditional houses of storytelling, music, dance, games, and more. Charles composes music for orchestral instruments, composes mōteatea, and is an accomplished song writer. His music can be found on a number of recordings including Tohu: Mauriora. He is the inaugural Artistic Director of Ōrotokare: Art, Story, Motion – a charitable trust established to advance the ideas in his doctoral dissertation and to create the first modern whare tapere.
