Kaihautu: Hare Paniora – Pae Arahi For Maori, the land they live on is one of the most important aspects of life. Preserving their way of life depended on the treatment of the land and all things living on it.

The Matariki star constellation was used to dictate how the coming year would be in regard to size of harvest, and how best to prepare the land. Hare will share his experiences of a childhood of planting, harvesting and storing food, along with tikanga in terms of conservation when gathering food from the sea.

Hare Paniora – Pae Arahi Hare comes from an educational background, with 25 years as principal of several primary schools and many years as a tutor at Auckland Teachers College. He joined Carrington Polytechnic in 1991 as Head of Centre Puukenga, before being appointed to his current position as Unitec's Pae Arahi in 2002.
