Qualification

Introduction

Over the past few years there has been a steady increase in the number of events being held across the sports, recreation, and cultural sectors.  This growth has highlighted the need for training support in event management to grow the professionalism of these events

 

Programme Aims

This programme aims to build capability of people who have the responsibility of planning and running simple programmes and events.

 

Programme Content

Training will combine paper based resources with facilitated workshops in the context of actual project management.  The qualification compiles 2 Modules integrating both the practical and theoretical aspects of community event management.

 

Trainee Profile

This programme is for event coordinators and/or people involved in organising events.

 

Trainee requirements

It is essential that trainees participating in this programme are currently or intend to be involved in the coordination of an actual event of their choice.

 

Duration

The programme will be delivered over a 12-month period.

 

Registration Fee

There is a Trainee registration fee - This covers the cost of programme resources, and NZQA credit reporting.

 

Assessment

Assessment will combine the following assessment methods:

·   Workshop based activities

·   Written assessment booklet

·   Collation & provision of events related evidence

·   Observation assessment.

 

Workshops

 

Module One Workshops for will run over 2-3-days. Each day will include a variety of theory, group and individual learning activities, practical participation and discussion

 

This workshop will focus specifically on the planning and implementation of events.  The location of workshops will depend on the geographical spread of trainees.

 

Self-directed Learning

Module Two focuses on the theoretical aspects of community focused events, providing insight to the relationship between events and community recreation, trends and community development.

 

Trainees will be supported to complete this module by self-directed learning utilising specially designed resources.
